Ok, so I am super behind on posts. I blame it mainly on the hustle of slinging two kids around post LA and getting my house back together. Excuses aside, let me recap some super fun moments from my quick visit to LA. Purpose of my trip? To visit one of my oldest and dearest friends and well… shop of course!
First stop literally off the plane was to the Venice farmer’s market. Had to pick up some locally grown produce as well as score some flowers to bring to my hosts. I love checking out the local markets in whichever city I visit. Gives you such an instant snapshot of the flavor of the town. Although not my first trip by any means to LA, still love to stop here- totally sets the mood for my stay.
(Side note, my plane outfit was totally cute- grey deconstructed top, black joggers with Nike hurraches.)
After a quick shower and change into this cute cotton jersey dress, I was ready to head out and start the day. (Meanwhile, my day actually started at 3am east coast time to catch the 6am out of Newark, NJ) That being said my next stop was to the CBTL for an almond milk latte. I have no idea why they are so good here but I have to get one every time possible. Since I was caffeinated it was time to make the rounds at Third Street Promenade. I can’t believe how much they added to the “mall” structure since the last time I had been there.
I was super excited to stop in and see Nasty Gal’s free standing store. I had not been yet and it did not disappoint. Have you read “#GIRLBOSS” by the creator of Nasty Gal, Sophia Amoruso? Highly suggest reading this. What an inspiration- work hard and follow your passion, you never know, you could be the nest GIRLBOSS. So many good finds there.
These were the little nuggets I came to see. Can you even?
Another outfit change and I headed out for the eveing to Abbott Kinney. Love this street! It happened to be first Friday there so I scored tons of great truck vendor food. I love that kind of street fair. Obsessed with below wall mural and cute fence decal. (Yes, that’s me creeping in the photo. Nick you stink at taking pics, BTW) Sporting this amazing BAJA inspired jacket from H&M, ripped jeans and my FreeLove lace up block heels from Jeffrey Campbell.
Had end the night with a night cap at the Venice Whaler.(above) Did I mention that my best friend Nick is the Executive chef/Partner there? He has done such an outstanding job re-branding and relaunching this iconic Venice restaurant. I don’t know whats better than killer eats, drinks and that VIEW!!! Trust me, you need to go there next LA trip. The vibe is so incredible. Sunday brunch party was also bananas!
Since Rose Bowl wasn’t happening the weekend I was there, I opted for the Fairfax Flea Market down off Melrose. We had such a blast! There is nothing like shopping any city’s local outdoor market. I scored tons of great jewelry, this amazing straw market tote (seen bleow) and some killer vintage clothes! You’ll notice my finds throughout Dressing Jane insta pics!
Until next time LA! xx
